The Chicago Irish Film Festival

Set in the Gaelic region of County Galway, this irreverent social satire finds button-up FBI agent Don Cheadle and foul-mouthed, racially insensitive local police sergeant Brendan Gleeson butting heads over more than the drug deal they're hoping to foil. Filled with surreal flourishes, sharp dialogue, and an offbeat buddy-movie dynamic, director John Patrick McDonagh's THE GUARD is a darkly funny and unexpectedly entertaining treat.
