Irish Events in New York, NY

New York hosts the world’s oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade down Fifth Avenue, where thousands march amid cheers and sea of green - an annual spectacle rooted in centuries of Irish heritage. Yet the city’s Celtic spirit doesn’t take a winter break: from “St. Pat’s for All,” an inclusive Queens parade celebrating diversity, to the New York Irish Center’s culture-packed “40 Shades of Green” marathon and Stone Street’s iconic St. Paddy’s block party, Irish traditions pulse year-round. Local pubs and cultural organizations from festive pub crawls to dance nights and community workshops keep the fun going in every season.

    An Evening with David McWilliams

Author, journalist, economist and podcast host David McWilliams joins us for an evening of conversation with Irish Arts Center's Executive Director Aidan Connolly, in the JL Greene Theatre on Monday, November 17 to launch his latest book The History of Money, followed by a signing and reception in the Devlin Café. In The History of Money, McWilliams takes us across the world, from the birthplace of money in ancient Babylon to the beginning of trade along the Silk Road, from Marrakech markets to Wall Street. Along the way, we meet a host of innovators, emperors, frauds, and speculators, who have disrupted society and transformed the way we live. Filled with memorable anecdotes, and with a foreword by Michael Lewis, The History of Money is an essential, extremely readable history of humanity’s most consequential invention.
