St. Paddy's Day in the Gateway City

St. Louis boasts a rich Irish heritage that dates back to the 19th century, with Irish immigrants significantly contributing to the city's cultural and social fabric. This enduring legacy is celebrated annually with grand St. Patrick's Day festivities that draw locals and visitors alike.​

In 2025, the city will host its 56th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 15th, at 12:00 PM in downtown St. Louis. The parade begins at 8th and Market streets, proceeding west to 22nd and Market streets. Regularly noted as one of the top in the country, the parade features more than 120 units, including marching bands, floats, and balloons, attracting over 250,000 spectators who line the streets adorned in festive green attire. ​

Following the parade, the Shamrocks & Shenanigans St. Pat's Day After Party at Ballpark Village offers live music, food, and drinks, extending the celebration into the evening. ​

On Monday, March 17th, the festivities continue with the St. Patrick's Day Parade in the Dogtown neighborhood. Starting at 11:00 AM, this parade is a cherished local tradition, reflecting the strong Irish roots of the community. ​

St. Louis' esteemed Irish pubs are central to the celebrations. John D. McGurk's Irish Pub, located in the Soulard neighborhood, is renowned for its authentic Irish music, great food, and a breathtaking 10,000 square foot garden. ​

Maggie O'Brien's, situated at 2000 Market Street, offers a warm atmosphere, combining Irish hospitality with live music and a diverse menu. ​

The Pat Connolly Tavern, established in 1942, is a cornerstone of the Dogtown community, known for its friendly ambiance and traditional Irish fare.​
